I read this article in the newspaper this morning and it listed a bunch of web sites that are of interest to weight watchers. Actually, I should rephrase that and add the words "of assumable interest" to weight watchers. Most of the sites weren't interesting to me. But there was one that intrigued me. It was a site that let you upload a photo of yourself, and then you put in how many pounds you wanted to lose and it resized the photos to reflect what you would look like at your goal weight. (The author suggests you use the photo as a motivational tool).
So I decided I'd see what I'd look like if I lost 10 pounds from today's weight (157.6). It takes about 10 minutes or so for them so send you back the photo and when I looked at it, it didn't look any different. So now I'm wondering if it didn't work or if 10 pounds REALLY wouldn't make that much of a difference. (A shocking thought!)
I'm thinking that if I lost 10 pounds it would be very noticeable. At least to me. I wonder how many pounds we have to gain or lose before anyone else notices? I think I notice with every ounce I gain and every 20 pounds I lose. Whoa - a little bit of disparity there don't you think?
Anyway, you can check and see if any of the sites interest you. There's a pretty good variety of them. Some of them seem to be sites where you can place a bet on how much weight you will lose. But I'm thinking, isn't betting our health gambling enough?
NOTE: I tried to get a link for the article but the local newspaper is not "link-friendly". This is a syndicated column so it may be in your local newspaper. I've found it on the web before but can't seem to locate it. Anyway, the article is: "Web Shows Ways To Help You Live A Healthier Life" and it is by Charles Stuart Platkin (AKA the diet detective).
